The oxygen absorber utilizes iron powder as its main component. When exposed to air, the iron powder undergoes oxidation, effectively removing oxygen from the food package. It’s important to note that when using these absorbers in mylar bags, the bags will not be vacuum-sealed and may only shrink slightly. This is because there is still approximately 20% oxygen in the air, and the absorbers are designed to specifically remove oxygen, not all of the air.
